ELKON recently supplied a huge concrete batching plant for Karbala Oil refinery project The refinery is going to be built on a 6 km² plot of land and expected to produce liquefied gas, gasoline, gas oil, fuel oil, jet fuel and asphalt. The oil produced at the refinery will meet international standards equivalent to European production and will serve the growing domestic demand for oil in Iraq as well.

The scope of work for Van Oord consists of the construction of a 1.5-km rock breakwater, reclamation of an area of 40 hectares, including soil improvement works and the dredging of the access channel and turning basin.
